Where the Alpacas Make Fun of Work.

We purchased our Ranch in 1991 and built our home. But something was missing. So, we added Horses. That was fun, but then we wanted more. So, we added Ostriches. That was fun until they were 8 feet tall and aggressive. That was not fun.

Then we saw the I Love Alpacas commercial. We had to have them. So, we searched the Internet until we found a local ranch to visit and we were owners within a week.

We bought five alpacas to begin this new adventure and then added another right away and then another in a few months. We wanted to buy them all.

We are now and will be forever committed to these wonderfully delightful "Gifts of God".

Our herd is growing every year, providing us with a larger herd as well as more variety of alpacas to offer for both sale and stud services. We have been blessed to have all colors of alpacas born to us

.

We have recently started another phase of the alpaca business of processing fiber. By taking the fleece from the animal, we can then clean it and card it. Then turn the processed fiber into various types of products using different kinds of crafts such as spinning into yarn, wet felting into clothing and needle felting into decorative items.

This may sound like a lot of work but here at Shady Ridge Alpacas,
